What Does GSM Mean?
GSM stands for grams per square metre. It measures how much a one-square-metre piece of fabric weighs. The higher the number, the more fibre per unit of fabric. More fibre means more warmth, more structure, and longer lifespan.

350 GSM sits at the entry point of heavyweight. According to Qianshiwear's 2026 fabric weight breakdown, this is "where real quality begins - the fabric holds its shape, the hoodie has presence, and it survives heavy rotation without sagging."
For Indian streetwear specifically, 350 GSM is the practical sweet spot. Heavy enough to carry warmth across Delhi winters, Bangalore evenings, and Pune's December cold. Not so heavy it becomes unwearable indoors or during transitional weather.
Why Most Indian Hoodies Are 240 GSM or Under
Fast fashion economics. Lighter fabric costs less, ships cheaper, and photographs identically to heavier fabric on a flat lay. A 240 GSM hoodie and a 350 GSM hoodie look the same in a product image. They feel nothing alike in your hands.
